GeekUp Sheffield: The Aftermath

Richard's picture

Last nights GeekUp was a lot of fun. Finbarr's presentation on making Agile pay was very informative and my talk on CakePHP went off without a hitch (apart from a minor technical hiccup with the hardware at the start).

As my first presentation, I was looking to learn as much as I could from the experiance. Here's what I came away with:

  • Preperation is key! I new what I was talking about and the order I should be taking.
  • I say 'erm' a lot. Note to self: Don't say 'erm' - take a breath instead.
  • Too much code. That was always going to be a concern with this kind of presentation.
  • Remember to ask for questions at the end of the presentation
Overall I think the presentation was well recieved, I fielded a few questions afterwards and hopefully turned a few people on to CakePHP.
